Yay! Time to get excited, Little Wanderlust Stories (i.e. me) has been nominated for the Liebster Award. But you probably have no idea what this means/is right?
This nomination/award is passed from blogger to blogger to help recognise their amazing hard work and fantastic passion for travel while also inviting new readers in.
The wonderful guys over at Dang Travelers have nominated me for the Liebster Award. David and Angela have restless feet, an undying love for new adventures and a passion for life. They caught the travel bug when they decided long distance relationship and the commutes were no fun, Angela packed in her job to move closer to David but before this they decided to head out on an adventure. They have some hilarious stories of compromise and some fantastic tips on excellent food, bound to make you hungry by the end.
So here we go, the ten questions they wanted to ask:
1.If you had to describe your blog in three words what would they be?
Adventurous – I love ‘off the beaten track adventures, adventure sports etc. Most of my travels will include adventure in some way and I love taking you with me!
Creative – My whole blog is my own, I taught myself photography which I love now and built the blog myself with just a basic template. I’m always looking for new creative ideas when changing my blog, writing or creating photographs.
Inspiring – (I hope anyway) I’ve travelled a lot for my age and while I have had good jobs to allow me to do this I’ve worked damn hard, saved a lot and struggled a lot to make it happen. I travel alone mostly, I’ve volunteered, experienced luxury travel and now doing a working holiday so feel my blog is an all rounded place for any traveller to gain inspiration from.
2. How long have you been blogging?
I started my blog back in about May 2015, so just under a year. Originally started to keep my memory fresh of all the wonderful stories from my travels, but now has turned into something I am so passionate about I want to involve other people in and possibly make a career out of.
3. Do you have a significant other? If so, how did you meet?
No, I don’t have a significant other. I travel around the world Solo for the most part, but I meet some incredible people along the way and I wouldn’t change this right now. Maybe one day in the future I’ll meet the right person who I guess can tag along on adventures with me.
Do you travel full-time or part-time?
Right now I would describe myself as travelling Full Time. I quit my job in Scotland, travelled to Asia and then ended up in New Zealand on a Working Holiday Visa. So it will be a base but I won’t be staying in any one place for a long period of time. Plus there are so many places to explore!
What was your first big travel adventure?
My first big travel adventure was my trip to Nepal in 2012. I had been on family holidays for most of my life but this was my first completely Solo Trip and I was going to six weeks to live with a local family and volunteer. It was incredible.
What is your next travel destination?
Such a hard question. It will be exploring the rest of New Zealand for sure, but I will also be heading to Australia in May (hopefully) and planning on travelling to Rarotonga, Samoa and Vanuatu this year as well.
Who is your favourite person you have met while traveling and why?
This is a pretty impossible question. I have met so many incredible people while I’ve travelled, from so many different cultures and places all over the world. Some terrific guides, tourism workers and hotel/hostel staff. Every single person shaped my adventures so well. The person that sticks out the most when I think about this question though is my Guide Ian who took us Rhino Trekking in Zimbabwe, he was incredible, so interesting and ridiculously passionate about his job and the animals – he could have made the bread making process sound interesting.
What is your favourite mode of transportation?
Without a doubt it has to be either Tuk Tuk or open back jeep. Both are crazy fun and terrifying at the same time!
If you had to give one piece of advice to someone who wants to travel more, what would it be?
There will always be reasons in your life not to go, there will always be a wrong time, you will probably not ever have as much money as you want etc. But there is more to life than just working and paying bills. If travelling is your dream and all you can think about get out there and do it. It doesn’t need to be at the other side of the world, a new city or state is just as good. Life is far to short to forget to live life the way you want to while your young enough to enjoy it to the full.
